L2 Phoenix update

Just a little update on the Lineage 2 fronts since I've been so involved with LoTRO.
Apparently the new report bot button is a hit - as long as your not a bot! lol
GM Spam has been making his rounds on every server banning people left and right for 1. botting 2. gold selling/buying 3. sharing ip's with someone who's done 1 or 2. Most threads on the official forums are rejoicing him or hating him. The latter being the people who say "OMGZ i got banned and I nev3er botted or looked at adena buying websitez!" When clearly they are lying like little bitches, haha. I'm sure prices in Giran are going up as we speak.
These new reviews people are throwing out for this Kratei's cube are pretty useless, nobody is going to go to fantasy Isle when the new expansion is out. There's a whole new continent for gods sake! Not to mention S84 gear to start working on. It probly works in Korea, but not NA.
So, it was only a matter of time before the 3 way wars stopped. Since NM basically died after the server merge and kept dying Clearly Clueless left ally and some people from Nocturnus are joining them. Yes! politics and drama! and to make things better, FS/CD are rolling people so hard my clan wants to take a step back and maybe drop wars so they can actually level up and compete. lol...
Wow, now they start thinking of the reasons that half the clan are inactive. Sorry, I don't play solely for pvp, and when there are no xp parties well then there's no point to log in. Not to mention I got tired of asking deseo to do something about the people in clan using l2walker. Hell maybe I should just log in to report them to GM spam! *evil* Anyway, this could very well be the end to imperivm IMO. Then what, they join Karigans clan? lol no thanks, I definatly wont login then :p

First impressions

Well, I'm about to tell you MY first impression of Lotro: Mines of Moria. As I said in a previous post I was kinda apprehensive about my LM to start with and got upset when I saw the new trait sets. All you had to do was logged in and you were already nerfed. But anyway, Cleve knew how I was feeling and talked me into giving it a try while he ran on Joric(champion). I didn't bother even changing my traits from what I had pre-mom, cuz you don't HAVE to change them and make it a set if you don't want to. So I had a mix of traits which ended up giving me 2 set from MoNF and 2 from the ancient master. We hooked up with Algonar and pointy and they basically ran me through the first part of V2: Book 1 for my legendary weapon. I didn't get any real chance to test anything cuz the Dps classes killed it all before I could think lol.

The next day I read on the forums, someone said the Keeper of animals trait line actually does give the pets more dps and can even out with the MoNF(dps) trait line by using the pets. I drove home from work excited about this wanting to try. I retraited my class deeds towards my pets and got the whole zookeeper trait line activated and even changed out my legendary for it. And I went out to fight.
First I used my lynx, he ended up with about 600 morale more than usual and when I casted sign of the wild it lasted about 16 minutes. But I did NOT notice any difference in its dps nor its defense. Although after the fight was over he did seem to regen morale pretty fast. And to get all the traits in the 5 slots to make my pet "uber" I had to give up the Healer trait. So I wouldn't be able to heal my pet fast enough if he pulled more then 1. Although I would be able to mez it with this trait setup. Either way, I still pulled agro after using 1 spell, which were slow as hell and the reuse was twice as long with this trait setup. I summoned the bear thinking he could hold the agro more and suprisingly he seemed to hit harder than the lynx with a couple hundred more morale tacked on him(and I did not have Hardy Bear traited). But he hit so much slower than the lynx it didn't make up for anything, plus again once I casted one slow spell I got agro and the Bears skill that pulls agro off of you has a crappy reuse timer also.

So all this time I've been trying to level up my legendary weapon to level 10 and finish the book 1 quest. It seems like its been taking me twice as long to do this than what Cleve said it took him to do on his champion. No surprise, the pets are slow and with this trait setup I cast slow as hell and weak too.

I make my way back to the bard to try the MoNF(dps) trait setup. The extra fire damage and the reuse time on light of the rising dawn(thats what the light beam is called right? lol its 7am give me a break) was looking pretty sexy. BTW I did have room to keep my Proof of all ills (the one that lets you cure wounds in combat)traited. So I go back to the same area to kill, kill, kill! Of course my casting time on certain skills were faster thanks to one trait. My burning embers fire skill was doing a noticable amount more of damage. Did not notice any extra damage done on any other skills though. And dun dun dun, its time to test out my new nerfed Blinding flash! Cast it, after 10 seconds he wakes right up I cast my light beam he's mezzed for a couple more, cast test of will he's mezzed for a couple more then he's right in front of me and my BF counter is still not up and ready. What a waste of a perfectly good LM skill.

At this point I was pretty frustrated - I had still not gotten my weapon to level 10 and I needed a break. Now let me say I've seen a few loremasters complaining because they are dying easily. But I had no problem tanking these mobs that my pets couldnt hold or that I could mez. Possibly has to do with my very good gear AND I made sure the also go through my Virtues and equip the ones that give me high armour value. I had to give up a little fate(not much really) for armour value. Armour value now has TONS more impact than fate or will seeing that your armour value adds to not only common but also other mitigations. And fate, will, ect. are now calculated in such small numbers that the 10 fate that used to help your tact. crit so much barely even touches it. So I had no problems on the defensive side, only offensive and CC.

I suppose we could just pick whichever is our favorite playstyle and trudge through to 60. Then at end game we'll be making trips to the bard every hour to be useful in raiding or pvmp. I couldn't even enjoy the new areas, stories, sights because I was too focused on the mechanics of what I was doing. In short it just doesn't look fun playing my LM and this is a game right? Wheres the fun in this? :(

After I pouted abit to Cleve I got on my hunter, checked out the trait sets and was pleased with these. Ok I should say extremely happy with these after staring at the LM ones the first half of the day lol. So Joric took my hunter out and I finished my legendary weapon quest with no problems, and HAD FUN. We went into the mines for the first time. Beautiful! I'll post screenies later ;)

loremaster.......

Logged into MoM this morning... went to the bard to see these trait sets all the LM's are complaining about. And to put it quite bluntly I was very overwhelmed and then just felt like crying. ALL of this hard work I put into my LM and the Dev pays me back like this? Please, don't argue about it, it is another nerf. Not to sound like doomsday, but there is no future to playing a LM unless the Dev gets his head out of his ass quick. I have faith in turbine, but NONE in this loremaster Dev. I HOPE HE GETS FIRED! lol Ridiculous. Always threads in the LM forum with people not happy and giving suggestions, reasonable suggestions. And this Dev totally ignores us and fucks up our traits so that you have to trait some useless shit or be useless anyway! bah see now I'm just pissing myself off and rambling. I made alot more sense when I replied to this post in the forums.

What's with the pause after hitting call to the valar, is that there to reset a skill or make you pause and reflect on how frustrating it is that the skill didn't hit, again. There is no pause like that when my burglar uses ready and able.

The fact is that to solo at any point you have to be able to dps down an enemy - the longer it takes, the less chance you have at survival. We will need to solo to harvest mats or grind our legendary unless you expect a group around and for you to "support" them the entire time. Give us a stance if you have to - just don't penalize us for going dps by toning down a cc skill to a puff of air. If cc is claimed to be a substitution for armor all the time - why does it get decreased for damage only on this class - I didn't notice fire skills improving armor in moria. Hunters got decreased dmg for cc but guess what, they still have more armor bwahaha tricks on you LM.

What is your idea of support if not healing, we got no improvement there.

Did I miss the skills that increase our power passing or consumption in moria? Oh that's right, those are in the dmg trait tree, they aren't part of a "support" LM now nor are they in any way tweaked or improved.

Perhaps we got more cc for support that I overlooked, nope, nothing there either.

You consider buffing your pet is support I suppose because there is an entire line dedicated to it? When that pet dies with the first aoe, then what - not gonna resummon are ya and all those pet traits are worthless. The pets aren't worth much but a buff endgame now - if that changes put me in shock.

As stated previously if you don't take the near 70% improvement in your fire dmg what state are you in - gonna support the mob to death or rely on a 2k health pet to knock it down for auto attack common dmg?

We have debuffs yup and they have cooldowns and don't apply to each mob - that's what moria focused on tweaking. All that miss chance is just that - a chance, no guarantee so whoopee you got 3%+ more CHANCE at something happening. Ever have a 50% chance to crit in this game in crafting? How has that worked out for ppl. Instead armor is passive resistance and a bubble is also guaranteed, is last stand a chance skill, etc. Debuffing can resist all day - what saviour is there when it doesn't stick. If your class can't fall back on armor(mitigation), healing(survival), or dps(destruction), well...

What I see in the RK is a solid description. Heal and damage. It won't be in question what the role is as this class has become.

Wacky me asking for more chance for my skills to actually work all this time and requesting tact hit chance. I'm attempting to overpower us, guess I should shut up and go support someone because "I" doesn't belong in an LM vocabulary :P

And my response was:
Well I started my LM because I thought it would be a good summoner class with the pets. We all see how that route has gone. I've begged the GM's to make the pets more worthwhile. We get a new trait line for pets now! LOL is all I have to say to that trait line. Give our skills more damage but lower our tact crit, while not even making it up with the pets damage, by giving them ONLY better defense.
I think if i want to be CC/debuff i need to play a burg. If I want to do damage I'll play a hunter.
If I want to cure wounds and pump power, well then my role is an LM. And those roles are just not looking very fun anymore. I've seen classes like this in other games become obsolete! So much that the players begged the GM's to just delete the whole class.

More Aion

Source: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/news-announcements/9317-translation-aion-races-200k-concurrent-users.html

Aion Races to 200k Concurrent Users

First day breaks 100k mark; 200k reached in 5 days
80% of players are finding the game 'fun'
91% of players are 20+

After setting a record reaching 100k concurrent OBT users in the shortest amount of time in Korea, NCsoft's Aion has reached 200k concurrent users on the 5th day - November 15th around 8pm. Also impressive is the fact that the numbers hardly fluctuated throughout the weekend, maintaining a growing user rate right until the end of Sunday.

Aion is currently drawing a slightly older crowd, with 79% at ages 20~30 and 12% at 40+, showing that the gamer base has aged since the launch of NCsoft's past products.

In an in-game survey (pops up in game every 10 levels) that more than 300k players replied to, 79.9% reported that the game was 'very fun' or 'fun'.

Survey Results*: How fun is the game so far?
Very Fun: 36.4%
Fun: 43.5%
Average: 18.1%
Not Fun: 1%
Extremely Not Fun: 1%
*note: majority of these numbers would have come from players within levels 10-20

Aion is also topping the charts as the number one game in netcafes since the beginning of OBT. (Meanwhile the user numbers of NCsoft's other games Lineage and Lineage2 haven't been much affected so far.)

Based on the numbers, Jaesung Lee an employee at NCsoft suggested that a large number of players that had stopped playing MMOs altogether have been revitalized by Aion.

But can Aion beat WoW? (In Korea)

At the current rate? It's more than possible.
Comparing Aion's user numbers to WoW's launch 4 years ago, there's no doubt that Aion is growing at a comparable rate. Back in 2004 when WoW conducted their OBT, they reached maximum concurrent user numbers of 240k, including the users in queue. Currently Aion's presumed to have 220k users when taking the queued users into account.

WoW has Aion beat in the speed new servers were set up (Aion is currently at 31 servers), but considering that WoW had a lot of server stability issues throughout OBT, the numbers were necessary as a buffer for downtimes.

WoW's OBT Timeline in Korea
November 12th 2004: WoW starts kOBT with 12 servers. Servers are bombed with users and their website goes down. All servers experience heavy lag.
November 15th 2004: 24 more servers added in 3 days, reaching a total of 36 servers. Servers are still bombed. At this point it's announced that concurrent user numbers in Korea had broken NA records. Blizzard is stumped.
November 16th 2004: 8 more servers added. Total 44 servers.
November 25th 2004: 11 more servers added. Blizzard Korea announces that they'd reached maximum capacity and stops accepting sign ups.
December 25th 2004: 600k copies of World of Warcraft are pre-ordered. OBT maintains 200k concurrent users.
January 16th 2005: Open beta ends. 65 total servers at this point. Maximum concurrent users recorded at 240k.
January 18th 2005: WoW launches with 65 servers.
January 20th 2005: WoW reaches 100k concurrent subscribed users.

The real race begins after launch

WoW had a very short beta period of 2 months before launching, and it seems that Aion will follow suit. Much of the content held off for after OBT, including the Abyss area, is ready for release so there is no real reason for NCsoft to continue the beta for too long.
There's very little doubt that Aion will reach the 240k OBT concurrent user record that WoW had set 4 years ago. The real question that remains is whether the subscribed user numbers will be equally as impressive.

MoM notes

Apparently this pc at work is flippin crappy that I can't post my screenshots without it locking up sooooo I'll just have to wait and tell you about my weekend when I get home to my quad-core lotsa ram pc <3 Until then you can read the Mines of Moria patch notes at:
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=173737

The weekend!

Ok alot to catch up from the weekend! I'll just go ahead and say yes we got our Hunters to 50! Unfortunatly I forgot to take a screenshot of turning 50 lol. Saturday we were planning on hitting 50 but we decided to take the hunters to rift with Bobo's raid. And I got away with 2 armour piecess(gloves and chest) haha. Bobo called me a loot whore. ;p Was interesting being in rift at level 48 Oo I couldn't even wear the armour I won till 50.

Was hilarious at first standing in rivendell waiting for the hopebuff, we were making fun of this guy named Pendingdoom who i guess stole something from cordy awhile back and a couple AoA members got warned for code of conduct from GM's haha. Good times.

Afterwards Brenin and Jaz said they'd help us get goblin town quests done. Bobo and Egel ended up joining with us and we ran around goblin town, literally, for a couple hours. I ended up dying like 3 times because of Brenins super goblin trains like this.

And as many times as I've been in Goblin Town i've never seen this wall painting there but it is awesome.

So anyway Sunday we leveled the hunters most the day and I participated in the AoA podcast(look for a post tomorrow probly about that with the finished product). Cleve took Joric to a Balrog run and again rolled the lowest number on the shoulders. Hun, it is just not ment to be >< lol

There was a kin meeting at 7, weeeee. Ragter basically talked about MoM stuff and loot rules. Was kinda boring cuz there was no beer! But we sure take awesome sauce pictures:

Isn't AoA freakin talented (I'm in the O):

Look at the peeps in vent: (it was relatively quietOo)

And yeah we weren't done yet. Bobo wanted to try another Balrog run! We took the hunters and it was so much freakin fun. I never had that much fun doing Rog on the loremaster :x of course Cleve rolled lowest number on the shoulders and everyone said thats why they love to run with him ;p I got some kind of gold legendary earring, ooooooooooooooo!

And now we wait...
Server just went down 20 minutes ago for the update of MoM :)

I'll play a beta tonight, since I still havn't paid for l2.

Saturday, November 15, 2008

The last rift raid until before MoM! How sad... lol Was fun and took some random screens.

Last half resumes sunday and I am taking my hunter!

So now for the best part. We did a BG run after and we went on our hunters and Forgys Bow dropped! I told Cleve he could have it but he made me roll 25 vs 76, I won.

Woot no I just need level 50 to use it. Grind fest today!

Friday, November 14, 2008

I stayed up way past my bedtime! It was just too fun playing my hunter in a full group. Bobo, gothos, pointy, hooligan helped us get through goblin town for the first group of quests, but then at about that time jrmama asked in kin if they wanted to do CD. So yeah lol goblin town got ditched and we somehow worked our way into CD, thanks for letting 2 level 47's come :) It was a blast even though Helch got bugged after Icestars fell in water lol. Hm didnt take any screens last night, I'm slacking.

Sooo listen to this crap, every time my beta has an event night we have the rift raid in lotro! Last week the raid got rescheduled to Wednesday, guess what it was in beta: stress test night. Our usual raids start on fridays and guess when the next stress test is: Friday! And its the only times the servers are up to test. Looks like we'll be up late from rift raid and then logging into beta after! Thank god it's the weekend. Oh and bailor said if i got my hunter to 49 I could use in in the rift raid, but lol I have a job and doubt I'm going to 47 1/2 to 49 in a few hours :p

**** this mmo!

I know I'm posting like the 3rd time day.
Someone posted this on the official L2 boards, its a remake of a WoW version apparently but this is funny as hell.

This doesn't even look like l2, all these players in S80 gear, wow. I can't believe they have the s80 event in Korea. We wont get crap.
Los Angeles, Calif- Nov 12, 2008 Red Eagle Games is bursting on to the digital- entertainment scene, launching its new Los Angeles based videogame publishing studio with the rights to one of the most popular and beloved fantasy epics of all times-Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series.

I should of read these books when someone told me too >< Just what I need, to read another book get obsessed with it and play another game.

TenTonHammer.com has a sweet Mines of Moria ad on the front page. I got another beta invite to a f2p but meh, dunno if I'm gonna try it.

WoW we have a rift raid on a wednesday?!

*claps* Yay for the people who play WoW, your new expansion is out in a few hours! Now go on and play your ugly game :)

Now that I got that out of my system, hehe, Saturday is National Gamer's Day or something. Apparently libraries (libaries as Cleve would say) around the nation are promoting gaming that day or something and you can go play Dungeons and Dragons with the little kids that the parents drop off at the library for a free babysitter. I play games everyday, why do we need a special day? o.o

The hunters are so close to 47 in Lotro since we did the whole 7 swords questline in east Agamar. And thanks to Sormo and Madman for helping finish the "small fellowship" instance! lol We got our first teal jewelery from that. We have the rift raid tonight on our mains, Joric still needs shoulders. So tomorrow we'll get 47 and head to goblin town or Urugarth.

We were planning on going to Carn Dum with Nez and Thad, but apparently Thad wanted to work on their alts (like their 3rd pair of alts mind you). Maybe this weekend Nez :) oh and um, still wts helegrod helmet! 20g

Aion OBT

Wow, seems like the Koreans are just as excited about Aion as me!

---------------------------------
Source: Thisisgame, ETnews, Tistory
---------------------------------

Aion's Korean open beta is now boasting concurrent user numbers of 150,000.
Since launching the service at 6am on the 11th, 150,000 players managed their way into Atreia by 11pm the same day. Aion is now operating with a total of 25 servers, with each server exceeding the 5000 player target NCsoft had set out for their servers.

Upon login, players are finding most servers on the list marked as 'full'. Taking into account all the users in queue for the servers, the number of concurrent users could possibly be seen as closer to 200,000. Considering that the launch was done on a weekday, the numbers are expected to go up as many more attempt to join over the weekend.

(ETnews reports that this is a record for a Korean developed MMO opening in Korea. The past record holders have been Lineage2 and Ragnarok 2 but even they were only able to reach 100k after a month of open beta testing. No mention of how WoW did in comparison, but WoW had over 150k concurrent users at its peak during its Korean open beta according to an interview with Mike Morhaine.)

NCsoft is now dealing with the happy dilemma of handling a much greater level of interest than they'd anticipated. Having already added 7 more servers than originally planned, continuing to add to that pool is only one way of handling the situation. The first change implemented immediately was to cut down on the scale of the promotions that were planned to begin on the 13th. This decision was made so that Aion's user base grew in increments that they could actually handle.

Unsurprisingly, many players are venting their frustration at the situation. Players that used the pre-beta services to reserve their spots had it easier, but those that didn't were having to wait in long queues just to create their characters. (note: Many of these players were sitting in netcafes as well, so you can imagine the added pressure.)

Server queue waiting list to the Israphel server. This one has 1433 players in the queue with an estimated wait time of 24 minutes.

1433 in queue and only a 24 min wait? not bad imo :p

So what do you do when you get bored at work? take gaming quizes!

I played the Ultimate Game Quiz at www.bitpit.be and scored 58 percent try to beat me.

And there's this new site called gamerdna.com with neat little quizzes to find out what kind of gamer you are and so on, I made my account under Jesslynn(Jesslynn.gamerdna.com). I think they only have 4 quizzes so far but they are neat the way your results are set up and have neat sigs to go with them. There's also some game on there? I'll have to check those out tomorrow. Also! They have a nice profile page that you can add your games, characters, images, experiences, ect. too. Seems like its still in beta though so its buggy.

SW:tOR news and grinding the hunter

Just read an article on TTH how biowares planning on making tOR combat like it is in the movie: choreographed. Cleve is extremely excited about this :)

Posted November 10th, 2008 by Morvelaira

No swing through damage

While there's not much information coming out about BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic, this little tid bit did slip through. BioWare boss Greg Zeschuck says that they're aiming for a choreographed feel to the combat. This should be a departure from the no-contact or swing through combat graphics of past MMOs.

"If you recall some very specific things from the gameplay video, it was choreographed," Zeschuk said.

"One big difference, especially against the MMO space, is that typically everyone swings through each other. That’s the way it’s been done. It doesn’t look great for Star Wars."

Zeschuk said he wanted the combat to "look as though it could be taking place in a Star Wars movie".

It sounds very lovely, but very complicated. We'll see if they can accomplish their goal.

So I tried to log into Buffanub account in L2 last night, but seems he changed the pw and didn't tell me >< Still can't play mine since I'm broke and it keeps saying "Your time has expired." lol

We got Josras and Jesriell level 46 last night. When Cleve was at work I boxed him and got like 3 deeds done for us. (stupid slugs in the shire) One more level I think and we'll be able to go to Goblin Town(wont you take me toooo Goblin Tooown) and get experience fast in there. Tomorrow night we have the Rift raid that we didn't do Sunday, I'm a wimp on weeknights so hopefully it doesn't last too late!

Helegrod screens

Aionsource.com's Grand Contest Winner

So, I'm technically not a winner yet, and I didn't have any competition in my group but looks like I'm a finalist :) Imo, a fanvideo will be chosen though for the grand prize. Link to announcement and download to my Fanvoice submission:
http://www.aionsource.com/forum/news-announcements/9113-more-contest-winners-livestream.html

Hello and Helegrod Raid

I don't know why I didn't make one of these awhile back, but here it is. Somewhere to talk about what I do with all of my free time. Besides messing with Rosetta Stone and learning random languages.

So it's Monday and I'm not tired only cuz it is Monday, but because we stayed up late for a Thorog raid in Lotro. Yup, we killed him. Was a long fight with alot of deaths lol. Of course we were sposed to start at 7pm but after missing certain classes and filling spots we didn't head in till an hour later, only to start Thorog and 10 minutes later wipe, because of some miscommunication(I love you Nez!) Went back in with a little more explanation, and besides the healer party getting blown up by the nasty eye when he was 100k morale, most went really well. We rolled for 5 armor pieces and I ended up with a helmet piece(WTS). We took a group screenshot, I got one in the dead dragons mouth and one in the casket. No Kyle wasn't molesting me in there. I'm at work atm so I will post these as soon as I get home :)

I just tried to get a gadget for a countdown on here. So I can get a countdown for Mines of Moria release, but it wont work. Cleve updated our clients today so they will be ready on the 18th :)
